Formal training at Dunedin Polytechnic and R.M.I.T University, Melbourne, along with extensive teaching and travels has informed my work.

About me
It is not “pottery making” that is essentially interesting to me but rather clay as the medium of choice to explore sculptural form, to tap the archetypal, and create an historical connection to the past – a human link in a very long chain of humanity.
The starting point of art locates the individual within a specific cultural context. Fragments of culture, linguistics modes, working methods, that inform either consciously or unconsciously, the work at it is understood. The creative process alternates between feeling and reasoning. Being truthful to what you do, even when you find yourself in opposition to received ideas. Materials, processes, ideas – sometimes all or one, researched content, made as straightforward as possible, is my way of working.
For the past two years I have been working by myself in my studio space in Palmerston North where I have my kiln and a humble working shed.
